How do we imagine Germanic people? Why do they appear in modern myths and radical opinions? The students explore archaeological objects and their stories. They gain insights into archaeology and history, deal with right-wing symbols and discuss how they can counter right-wing populist appropriations.
The teaching materials cover basic topics on the Germanic peoples and the construct character of history. They can be used as preparation, follow-up, but also independently of an exhibition visit. The teaching material was developed in the course of the exhibition “The Germanic Tribes – Archaeological Perspectives“.
